Greg Creason >> Bio
Greg Creason Born and raised in Flint, Michigan, Greg discovered that he had a talent for identifying and recreating images at age 11 when he drew an exact replica of a cartoon from a newspaper using colored pencils. Greg would put on his headphones and draw for hours each day. He accredits Norman Rockwell as one of his inspirations as he would often duplicate his works as a young boy. Greg’s mother and father were both very supportive of his skill for illustration and encouraged him to pursue a career in art. After high school, Greg attended Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Michigan, working on an Associate’s degree in printing but soon had to drop out by age 19 because of his father passing away. After working as a stock boy by for five years, Greg returned to school at age 24, attending Kendall College of Art and Design in Grand Rapids, Michigan and earning his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree in Illustration in 1990. In 1992, Greg moved to San Jose, CA where he eventually made his home in Monterey, CA for twenty years, having owned a small gallery on Cannery Row. During that time, he also worked for 12 years for a globally known artist where he learned the business of art. Greg moved from Monterey, CA to New Orleans, LA in 2009 where he has found tremendous inspiration in the lifestyle of New Orleans. Each piece he creates tells a story and represents what emotions Greg was experiencing at the point in time when the piece was created. As the owner and one of the artists in the gallery, he is honored to have the opportunity to promote other artists and providing his customers the best offerings of upcoming artists. |
